We are a community group of residents living near the proposed gravel pit that Kanata are proposing for the south end of 199 St within the city of Edmonton Alberta.
We strongly support the work being done by the North Saskatchewan River Valley Conservation Society to save our river valley.
We believe that a gravel extraction project is a highly disruptive industrial activity – not fit for this residential area.
We are VERY concerned about the safety of using 199 St as the proposed truck route through our quiet residential community. 199 St is a very narrow road with no shoulders. It is a school bus route and used by cyclists and pedestrians.
We also believe that a gravel pit in this area would be damaging to a very sensitive area. Noise, dust and risk to wildlife that frequently cross the road are also concerns of ours.
We strongly oppose any such gravel extraction projects in this area.
